CSIR- NIIST Exam Syllabus 2021, Exam Pattern
CSIR-NIIST Exam Syllabus: According to the notification, the Selection Committee will shortlist candidates based on their qualifications that suit the requirements
The shortlisted candidates will be invited for an open competitive written examination and typing test.
First, there will be the typing test and those who qualify in the test will be allowed to sit in the written test
The last date for applying online for the posts is 11-10-2021. The company is expected to hold the written test sometime in October or early November. And it will upload the call letters on its website and advise the candidates through SMS and e-mails.
NIIST said the skill test, written examination and interview will be held in Thiruvananthpuram.

NIIST Exam Pattern/Structure
NIIST wants to restrict the number of applicants to a reasonable level. There are only 07 vacancies for the post of Junior Secretariat Assistant and 01 posts for the Assistant Security. It means the screening will be strict. So, while applying for the post try to include all your qualifications and experience, which can be supported by documentary evidence. This will help you avoid rejection in the screening.
It is important for you to prepare well to pass the exam. And there is reasonably sufficient time to prepare. Knowing the syllabus beforehand is an advantage. Now, let us examine the exam syllabus:

CSIR-NIIST Exam Syllabus 2021
There will be two papers for the test; Paper-I and Paper-II. It is mandatory that you score the minimum prescribed cutoff marks for Paper-I. Because, the committee will evaluate Paper-II of only those candidates who score the minimum threshold marks,(which will be decided by the selection committee).
The papers will have subjects such as Mental Ability Test (Paper-I) and General Awareness and English language (Paper-II)
The Mental Ability Test will cover the following topics:
- General Intelligence
- Quantitative Aptitude
- Reasoning
- Problem Solving
- Situational Judgment

Paper-II
The English Language test for the 12th Class covers the following topics:
Reading Comprehension
- Conceptual understanding, decoding, Analyzing, inferring, interpreting, appreciating, literary, conventions and vocabulary, summarizing and using appropriate format/s
Writing Skills
- Reasoning, appropriacy of style and tone, using appropriate format and fluency, inference, analysis, evaluation and creativity
Literature & Long Reading Text
- Recalling, reasoning, appreciating literary convention, inference, analysis, creativity with fluency

CSIR-NIIST Exam Syllabus: Evaluation of Performance
Your Paper-II will be evaluated only if you score minimum threshold marks for Paper-I
Examination Centre
The Typing Test, Written Examination and Interview will be conducted in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
Final Selection
- After the initial screening, the shortlisted candidates will be called for Typing Test and Written Examination
- The candidates, who qualify in the typing test will appear for the written examination.
- The final selection will be based on the pcandidate’s performance in the written test and proficiency in typing
