A) Facebook Meta — formerly named and known as Facebook — recently announced that its is dropping the face recognition system on its platform. The company said the face recognition system was used primarily to strengthen security and relaiability of the platform, so that it can protec the users from impersonation and identity misuse by others. And, the feature was extended only to users who had opted for it. However, these recent changes, including the change in name of the company, are seen as a tactic to dailute the growing voices raised against Facebook’s alleged unethical business practices.
According to the Meta’ VP of AI, Jerome Pesenti, the company had felt there was a “need to weigh the positive use cases for facial recognition against growing societal concerns, especially as regulators have yet to provide clear rules”.
Simply put, facial recognition is a category of biometric security similar to the forms of voice recognition, fingerprint recognition, and eye retina or iris recognition. .

The ‘Ayushman CAPF’ Scheme is designed to benefit the personnel of seven CAPFs, namely Assam Rifles, Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, National Security Guards and Sashastra Seema Bal as well as their dependent family members. The Minister handed over Ayushman CAPF scheme health cards to three NSG commandos during the inaguaration. Some 35 lakh health cards are planned to be distributed by December 2021.
The ‘Ayushman CAPF’ Scheme is a joint initiative of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Ministry of Health and Family welfare (MoHFW) and National Health Authority (NHA).
