Harnaaz Sandhu is the Miss Universe 2021

Harnaaz Sandhu Bio: Harnaaz Sandhu from India is the Miss Universe 2021. The girl who was born in the millennium year was crowned Miss Universe outshining participants from 80 countries in the 70th edition of the event was held in Eilat, Israel.

Harnaaz was customarily crowned by last year’s title winner Andrea Meza of Mexico.

Paraguay’s Nadia Ferreira, 22, was the first runner-up, while South Africa’s Lalela Mswane, 24, was the second runner-up.

Harnaaz Sandhu Bio: Born & Brought up in Chandigarh

Chandigarh-born Actor-model Harnaaz Sandhu has become the third Indian to have won the Miss Universe title. The earlier winners are actresses Sushmita Sen who became the first Indian bagging the coveted title in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.

The ceremony was hosted by seasoned American actor, and television and radio personality Steve Harvey. This is for the sixth time that 64-year-old Harvey hosted the Miss Unverserse contest ceremony.

The selection committee included actor and Miss Universe India 2015 Urvashi Rautela, Adamari Lpez, Adriana Lima, Cheslie Kryst, Iris Mittenaere, Lori Harvey, Marian Rivera and Rena Sofer.

This is one of the Big Four International Beauty Pageants viz Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Earth., and is organised by the US-based Miss Universe Organisation.

The contest included traditional displays of national costumes, swimwear and a series of interview questions to test contestants’ public speaking skills.

During the question-answer session, she was asked as to how she would advise young women to deal with the pressure they face today

And, she said, “The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing, is to believe in themselves. To know that you are unique makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that are happening worldwide. Come out, speak for yourself, because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that is why I am standing here today (sic).”

Harnaaz Sandhu Bio

Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu was born on 3 March 2000 in a Punjabi middle-class Sikh family in Kohali village Batala in Gurdaspur. Her father is PS Sandhu and her mother Rabinder Kaur Sandhu, a medical officer in a local hospital.

Her family later shifted to Chandigarh and she had her schooling at the Shivalik School in Chandigarh and got her BA (IT) degree at the Government College Girls Chandigarh. She is reported to be pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Administration

Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu has won several pageant titles in India including  Miss Chandigarh 2017, Miss Max Emerging Star India 2018, and Femina Miss India Punjab 2019. In 2021, she was crowned as Miss Diva 2021, by virtue of that was chosen to represent India at Miss Universe 2021 and she won ultimately.

Her proud father PS Sandhu says””I am very happy and proud. We are waiting for her to give her a grand party. She has made the whole country proud. Bhangra pavan ge!”

According to her mother, Harnaaz has been passionate about pageants and the glamour world since her childhood. “She’s a confident, down-to-earth person from a middle-class family,” she added.
